AMSTERDAM by Chanje Kunda

Chanje Kunda did what many people dream of but can’t quite bring themselves to do – she left her office, packed her suitcase and set off for a new life in Amsterdam. She moved from Manchester to the Dutch city with her son after falling in love whilst on holiday. She has since turned the experience into a captivating stage show.

AMSTERDAM premiered in Manchester at Contact in 2014 and has been touring nationally with some international dates ever since. We have performed in a variety of spaces from national and international festivals to small-scale arts centres and studio theatres down to tiny village halls via the Rural Touring Network. UK Tour venues include Cast in Doncaster, Albany Deptford (Canada Water), Camden People’s Theatre, Nottingham Playhouse, and The Drum.

Amsterdam showcased two years running at the National Rural Touring Conference and has successfully toured five rural touring schemes, performing in village halls and community centres as far North as Craignish Peninsula in the north west coast of Scotland, and as far south as Devon.

AMSTERDAM was presented last year as part of Africa Utopia 2016 at the Southbank.International Festivals and venues include the National Arts Festival Grahamstown 2016 (main festival, solo theatre strand); Wits University Theatre Johannesburg, South Africa and Podium Mozaiek in Amsterdam.
